A new application is now out of the Nokia Beta Labs, the Nokia Live View augmented reality browser, which comes with support for Symbian^3-based handsets like the Nokia C7, Nokia E7 and Nokia N8. Still an experimental application, the new browser is meant to offer users a new way for discovering various places around them.

With the new mobile application, Nokia tried to put together the discovery of new places, with the learning of new things on them, and more.

“Whether you are shopping, hungry, or just curious about what’s near you, Live View will quickly find what you’re looking for,” the development team notes in a post on the Nokia Beta Labs blog.

“And, it doesn’t stop there, once you’ve discovered it, with a single tap you can read reviews, call, SMS, share, rate, or even get turn by turn walking or driving directions right to the front door,” the app's developers continue.

As soon as the application was launched on a mobile phone, users will be provided with points of interests in the camera viewfinder.

The development team notes that the new application was meant to connect users with what they were looking for at times when they need it.

LiveView offers users the possibility to:

- Select your interests in many different categories – LiveView will filter the points of interests and present your choices - Know your options – get details, read reviews of restaurants and hotels - Enjoy the place – with one tap you can make a reservation, or navigate to the location via turn by turn walking map Through integrating the discovery, learn, decide, and go-to experiences in Live View, Nokia is set to push augmented reality a step forward.

As stated above, the new application was made available for Symbian^3 devices. It was already tested on Nokia C7, Nokia E7 and Nokia N8, and might also work on Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7 Astound and Nokia X7, though not tested on these handsets as of yet.

Those who would like to install the app should note that it does not get along well with the Nokia Maps v3.08 beta, and that there are some issues with handsets that have both of them installed.

Users should provide feedback on the experience they receive from the application, so that more issues can be resolved.

“And if it is out there, odds are that Live View will find it. Live View accesses millions of unique places globally,” the development team notes.
