Nimbuzz has just announced a new feature aimed at offering a better experience to all of its users out there, namely Nimbuzz Ping, through which users would receive free SMS notifications whenever friends are trying to connect with them.

Through this feature, all mobile phone users are showed as being online even when they are not, providing them with the possibility to stay connected in a manner in which only smartphone users usually can.

“Not everyone owns a smartphone. As a matter of fact, there are 4 billion “feature phones” in use today. But not every feature phone allows you to stay connected to your friends the same way smartphones do. That’s why we launched Nimbuzz Ping,” the company announced in a recent blog post.

Nimbuzz Ping was created to work with all Java and Symbian mobile phones. All that users would need to do to benefit from the feature would include activating it from the Nimbuzz Settings by verifying their phone number.

“You will receive free text message (SMS) notifications whenever someone is trying to connect with you. It is up to you whether you want to start Nimbuzz to call or chat for free. From now on you will no longer miss Amy’s friend request, Ben’s chat message, or Claire’s photos,” the company continues.

One of the most appealing feature of Nimbuzz Ping is the fact that it is offered completely free, not to mention that it saves battery power through not having to stay connected at all times.

“Make sure you have the latest version of Nimbuzz installed and check if your mobile network operator (provider) supports it,” the company also notes.

“We are launching Nimubzz Ping with Telkomsel in Indonesia and will roll it out to other networks soon,” they add. Additional information on the matter can be found on the Nimbuzz Ping FAQ page.

The company also put in place a special page where users can sign up to be informed on the availability of Nimbuzz Ping with their operator. Take a look at the video below to learn more on the Nimbuzz Ping.
