Mobile phone users out there who own a device running under Google's Android operating system have now yet another application to enjoy on their handsets, namely Google Shopper. What the new application is all about includes the possibility for an Android phone owner to quickly find information on various products through using the camera on the device, as the app is meant to recognize a series of products, ranging from cover art of books to video games and barcodes.

“Shopper lets you find product information quickly by using your phone's camera. It can recognize cover art of books, CDs, DVDs, and video games, along with most barcodes. You can also speak the name of the product you're looking for. Use Shopper to make smart decisions about what to buy, what price to pay, and where to buy it. You can star items for later and share them with friends. Shopper also saves your history so you'll always have product and price information at your fingertips, even when you don't have a signal,” a recent post on Google's Mobile Blog notes.

According to Google, the new software solution is meant to help Android users shop smarter, with their mobile phones, as it has been developed so as to find prices, reviews, specs, and more. The application is powered by Google Product Search, enables users to save history and star favorites for later, and also provides them with the possibility to share their findings with friends through posting in Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Instant Messaging, and more.

Those interested in the application can find additional information on it on Google's Mobile Labs website, as well as in the aforementioned blog post. Moreover, a video of the application in action is also available, and you can take a look at it below. In case one would like to get the app on the device and start using it, searching for Shopper in the Android Market will offer them the possibility to do so.
