Running under Donut

Computer maker Acer has announced today the launch of its new smartphone “Liquid” series, a Qalcomm Snapdragon-based handset that runs under Google's Android operating system. The new device comes to the market with a WVGA touchscreen display, includes the powerful 1GHz processor from Qualcomm and sports the Donut flavor of Android (1.6). Unfortunately, no details on the handset's availability emerged.

According to the company, the new device is the “world’s first Android 1.6 high definition smartphone, combining cutting-edge technologies, software innovation and an ultra-fluid user interface to create an all-new mobile experience. It is the ideal solution for users demanding the best from their devices, and in particular outstanding multimedia, web browsing, social media integration and video streaming. It also brings smartphone product design forward with its unique and modern style.”

The new phone comes with a High Definition capacitive touch screen that enables users to enjoy a leveraged experience when watching pictures or videos, and also features support for a wide range of applications available for the platform, including games, professional apps and web applets. Basically, the company has confidence that its new device can offer all that a user would like for its Android phone to include.

The feature list of Acer's Liquid smartphone also includes: - Improved power management to help achieve longer battery autonomy for intense users; - A new user interface with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks; - An optimized camera with geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus performance; - Exclusive Spinlets application providing free streaming of worldwide music and video, that can be shared with friends and family through web-posting or e-mail; - Smart integration of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa and Flickr in the address book, with real-time notification of status or content updates.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon platform present with the device is also capable of delivering an enhanced experience to users, as it facilitates the web browsing, streaming of videos or music and high-speed Internet access (HSPA) as well as support for popular mail, maps and search applications that users would like to have on their handset. The powerful 3D graphics that it supports are also a plus when it comes to choosing the new Acer device over other available solutions. According to Acer, the new Liquid Android 1.6-based handset also attracts through its slim body and through the choice of red, white and black colors.
