Since MediaTek announced it would launch a true octa-core chipset, many handset makers wanted to be among the first to pack it into their products.

Which is probably one of the reasons Indian company Intex decided to put it into its Android smartphones as quickly as possible.

AndroidOS reports Intex has just announced it will bring its octa-core-based smartphone in India in coming weeks. According to the company's officials, the smartphone will be equipped with MediaTek's MT6592 chipset that features eight cores.

Unlike Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa chipset that packs two quad-core CPUs that do not work simultaneously, MediaTek's chipset allows all eight cores to function at the same time.

“Our quest to become the top smartphone player in the industry has made us bring extraordinary products with such revolutionary technology in the hands of consumers. We have always banked upon our tech pedigree to meet the ever changing demands of Indian consumers.

“We are overwhelmed with the trust that MediaTek have put in us to create the best possible handset providing extraordinary user experience to consumers,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head - Mobile, Intex Technologies.

The octa-core processor will be clocked at 1.7 GHz and will be complemented by a Mali 450-MP4 700MHz graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Intex also confirmed that its unnamed smartphone will be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which is kind of a letdown.

It is also worth mentioning that the device will pack 16GB or 32GB of internal memory and an enhanced 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, CSI and video recording, as well as secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Last but not least, the octa-core phone is said to boast a huge 6-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and dual-SIM support. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
