Indian company Intex Technologies has just announced the immediate availability of one of the cheapest Android smartphones launched in India, the Aqua 3.2.

Starting today, customers can purchase the Aqua 3.2 for only Rs 3,790 (70 USD or 55 EUR) off-contract. The handset is now available through most leading retailers across the country in three color options: blue, black and silver.

Given the fact that this is one of the cheapest Android smartphones available in India, customers should be aware that Aqua 3.2 is far from being impressive when it comes to hardware and software configuration.

First of all, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system and it’s highly unlikely the Aqua 3.2 will receive any further software upgrades to Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean.

The Aqua 3.2 measures 110.5 x 61 x 12.6 mm and weighs around 125 grams (battery included). The most important feature offered by Intex’s Android smartphone is dual-SIM capability, which is extremely popular in emerging markets such as India and China.

On the inside, Intex Aqua 3.2 comes packed with a single-core processor clocked at 1 GHz and 256MB of RAM. There are only 75MB of storage available for users, but the amount of internal memory can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The Indian handset maker also confirmed the smartphone will come pre-loaded with several popular apps and games, including Fruit Ninja and Nimbuzz.

Intex Aqua 3.2 sports a 2-megapixel rear camera with video recording, but no secondary camera for video calls has been included.

As the name suggests, the smartphone features a decent 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

Last but not least, Aqua 3.2 is powered by a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 4 hours of talk time or up to 180 hours of standby time.
