Intex Technologies, an electronics manufacturer based in New Delhi, announced the availability of IN 5050, a new dual-SIM mobile phone for the Indian market.

The new Intex IN 5050 is a good-looking candybar and comes in a case that weighs only 88 grams. The phone can be used with two SIM cards at the same time, a GSM and a CDMA one; hence, users will be able to use the services of two different mobile carriers.

The other features of IN 5050 include: MP3 and MP4 player, FM radio, dual speakers, Bluetooth, WAP browser, SMS and MMS capabilities, a 1.3 Megapixel camera (with video recording) and expandable memory (up to 2GB, with a 1GB card included in the package). The battery packed by Intex into the IN 5050 should be able to provide up to 160 minutes of talk-time or up to 130 hours of stand-by time.

"IN 5050 has imparted an important new dimension to our mobile phone portfolio," declared Mr. Shailendra Jha, DGM and Head of Mobile Phones at Intex. "The bouquet now has a CDMA variant. With this revolutionary mobile phone, Intex strives to rise above entry level segment and explore middle and high end segments. We are committed to cater to communication needs of masses by offering mobile phones with simple and better technology at attractive price points and will be announcing more such products in the near future."

Although the Intex IN 5050 is not yet featured on Intex's official website, the handset is said to be available across India as of now. Its retail price is of 7,200 INR (about 167 USD or 112 Euros).

All in all, IN 5050 looks like a nice addition to Intex's line-up of mobile phones, which includes, among others, the IN 2020 and the IN 2222 models (which are both candybars).
