14 DAY TRIAL // Intex has just expanded its Aqua series of Android smartphones with a new device aimed at the Indian market, the i6. According to the company, this is the first smartphone released in South Asia to be equipped with 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor.
“With the launch of Aqua i6, South Asia’s first handset based on the MT6582, we extend our association with Intex Mobile to help bring the world’s best technology to the Indian market,” said Dr. Finbarr Moynihan, general manager, international sales and marketing, MediaTek Inc.
AndroidOS reports that Intex Aqua i6 will soon be available for purchase in India for only Rs 8,990 outright, which is about $145 or €105.
As expected, this is a dual-SIM smartphone powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. We’ve already mentioned that it comes equipped with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
The Aqua i6 has been confirmed to boast an enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls.
It is also worth mentioning that Intex Aqua i6 sports a large 5-inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution.
The phone is powered by a 1900 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer, and packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
No word on when exactly it will go on sale, but we will keep an eye out for any additional info, so stay tuned for updates.
