Bitdefender experts have some important advice for you if you're planning a trip

Many of you have probably started making plans for this year’s summer vacation, but while searching the Web for hotels, plane tickets and loans, make sure you avoid the nasty spam emails sent out by cybercriminals.

Bitdefender experts say there are around 108,000 holiday-themed spam emails being sent out each day, most of which are airline confirmations or receipts.

In order to avoid falling victim to holiday-themed scams, follow these tips:

- Don’t make reservations on unverified or untrusted websites; - Check out the reputation of a company before purchasing anything; - Avoid clicking on links or attachments that arrive in suspicious emails; - Don’t tell the whole world (on Facebook/Twitter) that you’re leaving. Such announcements might give burglars ideas; - While on holiday, refrain from using public Wi-Fi hotspots to perform activities such as online shopping or online banking;
