Microsoft has specifically optimized Internet Explorer 11 to save battery life on tablets and laptops and a new series of tests does nothing more than to confirm that Redmond’s browser is indeed a leader from this point of view.

7tutorials has conducted a series of tests to determine which browser provides the best laptop and tablet battery life on three different devices, including a Toshiba Encore 8-inch tablet, a Surface Pro 2, and an HP Pavilion laptop.

On Toshiba Encore, Internet Explorer 11 topped the tests by providing a battery life of 8 hours and 52 minutes, while Firefox 26 dropped autonomy to 6 hours and 38 minutes.

On the Surface Pro 2, on the other hand, IE11 desktop could be used for a maximum of 4 hours and 45 minutes, while Firefox 26 was pretty close with 4 hours and 22 minutes.

Of course, Microsoft could only be pleased with such news, so expect the company to praise its battery-preserving tweaks included in IE11 anytime soon.
