Microsoft’s in-house browser remains the top choice worldwide

The browser market is currently dominated by three different browsers, namely Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, all of which receive new updates every once in a while.

As far as each company is concerned, their very own product is the best, the fastest and the most stable app on the market, even though statistics usually prove otherwise.

But when it comes to users, Internet Explorer seems to be the most popular choice, according to some new figures provided by market researcher Net Applications for the month of March 2013.

Internet Explorer is currently installed on more than half of all computers worldwide, while Firefox and Chrome complete the podium.

Microsoft’s in-house browser, nevermind the version, is helping 55.83 percent of the users connected to the Internet access websites, while Mozilla’s challenger in the browser war, Firefox, is installed on 20.21 percent of computers.

Google Chrome comes third with a market share of 16.45 percent, while Safari and Opera are far behind with 5.31 and 1.74 percent, respectively.

Microsoft seems to be one step ahead of all the other companies, with a new Internet Explorer version already in the pipeline and ready to be thrown in the battle together with the next major Windows 8 upgrade.

Windows Blue is expected to pack Internet Explorer 11, the next major browser release that would be offered in both Metro and desktop versions to appeal not only to desktop users, but also to tablet owners.

IE11 will obviously introduce a lot of new features for the Internet Explorer family, including tab syncing and gesture control for the desktop version. At least, this is what we could find out after giving the leaked Windows Blue a shot, as Microsoft has decided to remain completely tight-lipped on this particular project.
