Internet Explorer has once again managed to snatch the first position in the browser world, this time thanks to version 8.0 and its market share of 23.08 percent.

According to April 2013 statistics provided by market researcher Net Applications, Internet Explorer 9.0 was the second most popular browser last month with 18.17 percent, while Chrome 26 was only third with an overall market share of 13.22 percent.

Firefox 20 came next with 9.57 percent, while Internet Explorer 6.0, Microsoft’s 11-year-old browser, was still installed on 6.22 percent of computers worldwide.

The good news is that Internet Explorer 10’s market share has grown a lot in the last 30 days, reaching a record 6.02 percent that makes it the sixth most popular browser at this point. If everything goes well, expect IE10 to overtake IE6 by the end of May.
