Not that long ago, I pointed you to online nook that Mozilla set up for developers targeting the next iteration of its browser, Firefox 4.0. Well, Microsoft too has a similar online destination that devs should be aware of. Sure, there’s the IE Test Center, which at the start of this month had already accounted for in excess of 16 million views. It’s bound that web developers know about the IE Test Center, and have contributed to the over 2 million downloads of IE9 so far. Still, there is an additional resource, more in the line of what Mozilla offers for Firefox 4.0, namely the Internet Explorer Platform Preview Guide for Developers site on MSDN, now focused on the third Platform Preview of the browser, build 1.9.7.8.74.6000.

“The Internet Explorer Platform Preview Guide for Developers provides an early look at the features and improvements coming to Internet Explorer 9. By using this guide, web developers and designers can prepare to take advantage of these enhancements. Developers can also experience the platform in action using the Internet Explorer Platform Preview,” Microsoft reveals.

“Internet Explorer Platform Preview Guide for Developers” is the right place for devs to get a comprehensive view over the evolution of Internet Explorer. Undoubtedly, Microsoft has already proven that it has progressed quite far with the early preview releases of IE9. The developer site on MSDN offers an exhaustive list of new developer features, but also insight into browser performance, modern web standards support and same markup, and new graphics capabilities (hardware acceleration). This is a key resource for all developers that plan to build experiences tailored to Internet Explorer 9.

“As a developer, you want to know what’s to come in the browsers you and your customers use. Internet Explorer Platform Preview is an early look at some of the features and improvements coming to Internet Explorer 9, the next version of the world’s most popular web browser. We are designing Internet Explorer 9 to help the web development community create rich, interoperable, standards-compliant web applications by providing the platform, tools, and features for the future web,” the company added. “This document shows you, the web developer whose customers rely on Internet Explorer, how to prepare to use these new enhancements in your websites and applications.”
