Internet Explorer 7 Kills Outlook Hotmail Integration

SHARE:

Adjust text size:

This is a little known issue with the integration of Outlook and Hotmail via Internet Explorer 7. But Microsoft is aware of this problem and is providing the necessary support to remedy the
situation. Actually, the integration issue has been around since July 2006 and Microsoft has done nothing to fully resolve it even following the final release of Internet Explorer 7.

In the Redmond Company's own words: "authentication fails when you use Outlook or Outlook Express to try to log on to a HTTP-based mail server if you use Internet Explorer version 7.0."

The issues emerges not only on log on or log out with a client machine running Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 but also if the HTTP server is using digest authentication.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition for Itanium-based Systems, Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition (32-bit x86), Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit x86) and Windows XP Professional are all impacted and, for them, Microsoft is delivering Update KB 904942 available via Automatic Updates.

The only good thing about an IE7 update is it can be uninstalled using its uninstaller and Windows XP2 add/delete. The update destroys the ability to use, or log into, Outlook Express, Windows Update, and XPs add/delete function. I couldn't get rid of it quick enough, and it took two trys with XPs repair utility. My advice is to wait, wait, wait until it is fully integrated. I've had less trouble with Trojans and virus infections.

I had the same problem with I.E.7 rendering my Outlook Express unworkable for downloading & sending mail. Therefore as far as I'm concerned it's useless - as it seems Microsoft are aware of this, why do they push it at you ? I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Outlook Express makes email viable for me, otherwise email would be a real burden. It seems Outlook Express is one of the most appreciated devices from Microsoft, yet it seems Microsoft are always trying to get rid of it for some perverse reason.

Used to set program for email to hotmail in IE. But now that is not possible. So now if i want to send a email from a link in a site -> windows mail opens. I want hotmail appears in a window or tab. How can I do that. Or why did Microsoft do something stupid by removing such thing. IE and The Mail program is useless if you have a hotmail account. So is there another solution to this beside using firefox or other browsers?
