Internet Explorer 11 is the default browser in Windows 8.1, but it’s also available as an optional download for Windows 7 users who want to try out the latest improvements made by Microsoft to its app.

Today, the software giant released a new update for Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1 machines, so version 11.0.4 should now be available on all computers running the new modern OS version.

Internet Explorer 11.0.4 is shipped via Windows Update thanks to a security bulletin that’s trying to fix vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s in-house browser, so make sure that you deploy today’s Patch Tuesday updates to make sure that you’re running the new build.

At this point, it’s not yet clear whether Microsoft has also made some other changes in its browser, but the company most likely focused on fixing security issues that would allow attackers to get inside vulnerable computers and access user data.

Adobe Flash Player has also received an update on Windows 8 and 8.1 machines, so the new IE version comes with the latest build, again delivered via Windows Update.

Overall, this is quite an important update for all Microsoft users out there, so make sure that you download Internet Explorer 11.0.4 as soon as possible to stay on the safe side.
