Mario and Sonic went to their Olympic games. Real athletes go to the
Olympic games - that's the place where the best of the best meet and
compete against each other for the number one position. But this doesn't mean that there are no other great athletes in the world who, because of one reason or another, did not manage to go to the Olympics. For them and for you, of course, there is International Athletics, a handheld title developed by Code Monkeys which is going to hit the shops this August, thanks to Ghostlight.
While you're getting ready for a really intense summer, have in mind the following details on the game: it will bring ten manly (and this is the developer's word) events for you to win, either in a single or multiplayer mode. Of course, even though the AI promises to be able to cause you some problems, the most exciting one will be the online multiplayer mode, thanks to the leaderboards which will always show you who the best athlete in the world really is.
Sam Collins, Sales Manager of Ghostlight said, "International Athletics is an outstanding title with huge mass market appeal and further bolsters Ghostlight's expanding portfolio of high caliber titles for 2008. We are pleased to be able to announce the release of International Athletics on multi-formats in all PAL territories, reinforcing Ghostlight's position as a major publisher in the global games market".
If the 2008 Olympics in Beijing are still more appealing for you, it would be good to know that the career development option in International Athletics is not overlooked, meaning that, at least in theory, you could be sometimes able to send your character to the Olympic Games. Until then, you'll get the chance to win medals on your own and unlock famous stadiums and bonus events, which should be enough (for the moment).
The game will be released on Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP handhelds this August.
