Intermec, one of the world leading manufacturers and suppliers of barcode scanners, mobile computers, handhelds and RFID (Radio-frequency identification) systems, has recently announced the launch of the 70 Series of rugged handhelds.

According to Intermec, this is the company's next generation of ultra-rugged mobile computers and includes four products running on Microsoft Windows Embedded Handheld platform built on Windows 6.5.3 technology.

Mostly used by large companies in various fields such as transportation and logistics, parcel delivery and postal operations, as well as manufacturing and warehousing, the 70 series offers access to the best tools that will help these companies provide a high quality service to their customers.

The Intermec 70 Series includes four distinct products: CN70, CN70e, CK70 and CK71. Some of the key features of the 70 Series devices running on the Windows Embedded Handheld platform are:

- one of the most advanced 1D/2D scan engines; - new EA30 2D scan engine, with motion tolerance performance and an advanced aiming system; - new 3rd generation EX25 near-far scan engine, which increases the distance and velocity of data capture; - industry's first 802.11n dual-band WLAN, which enables better connectivity and communication for mobile workers. To emphasize the “ultra rugged” feature of the devices, Intermec optimized the 70 Series to work under harsh conditions. All four devices feature IP67 certification, six-foot drop spec across all temperatures, Gorilla glass touch panel and indestructible keypad technology.

Other highlights of the 70 Series include: INcontrol managed services platform-delivering business intelligence from the point of work, along with remote monitoring and diagnostics, as well as on-board diagnostics and device health monitoring.

All four devices are delivered along with the FlexDock Flexible Docking System. Obviously, the 70 Series of products targets large and medium businesses.

No price has been disclosed by Intermec, but those interested in purchasing any of the four handhelds should contact the manufacturer.
