Well, that's what Singapore-based company Tenvas claims

We've seen plenty of wrist-mounted devices in the press and on actual people's wrists, but there's always something new to be had. Like these interchangeable 3D printed watches from Singapore.

We can't say that smartwatches, or otherwise fancy watches, are something that can surprise us that much by this point. That doesn't mean there isn't room left to be intrigued, though.

In fact, if the design of a wrist watch or its means of manufacture are unusual enough, or both, then there is a lot of room to be intrigued indeed.

Tenvas (ten + canvas), a company from Singapore, is certainly betting on this, having become the world's first 3D watch design company.

The Tenvas interchangeable wrist watches

Smartwatches revealed up to now have a limited ability to change their faces, and they also provide a selection of straps or belts.

That means that you get some control over the color and shape of your wearable gadget, but can't easily change your preference afterwards.

This can't sit well with people who like to color-code their appearance, or who are very picky about the fashion statement they plan to make.

Some people may also simply like unusual patterns, like polka dotted faces with an otherwise unassuming strap or other such thing.

Tenvas' statement says it all really: “For the first time, designs on a watch won’t be decided by a few big watch companies, but by any designer who is inspired to have their designs made on a watch. Let creativity blossom!”

So what's this all about exactly? Tenvas is inaugurating its own birth as the first 3D watch company in the world by releasing over 120 3D printed watches, with more coming out all the time. Tenvas is allowing other designers to come up with new ideas.

The devices in the attached photo gallery are the IO watches, which have a thin and light metal casing with a design piece that can easily be strapped on top and changed at any time. You can literally change the watch to blue if you're feeling blue, or to a flowery image if you're feeling natural.

You can even submit your own idea if you know your way around a design program. Submissions are being accepted from all over the world.

Availability and pricing

This is the one and only catch to all this: the IO watches aren't exactly cheap, selling for $119 / €119. But hey, at least they're personalized.
