Intel has rolled out a new PROSet/Wireless driver update, namely version 17.0.5, which is targeted at both IT administrators and regular users who do not need advanced tools.

When it comes to the compatible operating systems, this release was developed for both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 OSes, as well as for the 64-bit architecture of Windows 8.1 platform.

This fresh update is to be applied on computers containing one of Intel’s dual-band Wireless-AC 3160, 7260, and 7260 for Desktop wireless adapters, or a Wireless-N 7260 component or its dual-band variant.

As for the downloadable packages, the producer has provided several files compatible with each bit-variant of the targeted operating systems (except for the 32-bit variant of Windows 8.1).

In addition to that, each OS benefits from 3 different packages, such as a drivers-only executable for installing the basic wifi drivers, a drivers-with Intel PROSet/Wireless software that also includes the aforementioned drivers, as well as an IT Administrator archive targeted at advanced users.

Moreover, the IT Administrator variant of this release also has available a bundle driver package that includes all drivers and Intel PROSet/Wireless, Bluetooth, and WiMAX software for all the compatible operating systems. However, since this archive’s size is about 240MB, it would be best if you used a download manager for it.

That being said, download Intel PROSet/Wireless Driver 17.0.5 or download Intel PROSet/Wireless Driver for IT Administrators depending on which package you need, apply the update, and don’t forget to perform a system reboot to ensure all changes take effect properly.
