Intel's next platform, aimed at conquering the digital entertainment, might turn out to be a little bit expensive. At least that's what the Taiwanese producers think, as
DigiTimes
informs.
Intel VIIV will be the foundation of a PC built specifically for entertainment. The new product will have Microsoft's Windows Media Center installed and will allow the users to watch movies, listen to music and view images.
Intel hasn't announced the price of the new technology, but the Taiwanese producers have calculated that we are dealing with a price tag of around $1000 - 1500, while a regular PC ranges between $299 and $499.
That's why the Taiwan producers are not worried about Intel, which in their opinion is targeting the high-end segment of the market.
