Even though they are not so popular as other solutions developed by third-party makers, Intel's motherboard range includes quite a few interesting models such as the low-profile DH61AG for LGA 1155 processors, which has just reached retail availability in Japan.

Just as its name implies, the board is built around Intel's H61 chipset which offers a basic set of features for entry-level Sandy Bridge systems as well as support for the integrated graphics found inside Intel's CPUs.

Speaking of CPUs, the DH61AG is compatible with all processor models that have a TDP of 65W, or lower, and also supports up to 16GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 1333MHz via two SODIMM slots placed to the right of the LGA 1155 socket.

The rest of the expandability options include an x4 PCI Express slot, one full-size and one half-size mini-PCI Express connectors, as well as two SATA 3Gbps ports for installing various storage devices.

A third SATA port is routed to the back of the board as an eSATA connector, where it's accompanied by a pair of USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet connector, two audio jacks as well as by DVI and HDMI video outputs.

Two additional eDP and LVDS interfaces are available via an on-board header and users also have the option of connecting a 7.1-channel audio sound system thanks to an internal S/PDIF header driven by the Realtek ALC892 audio codec.

According to Intel, the 25 mm high DH61AG is destined to be used inside all-in-one systems, compact form factor systems, and home theatre PC systems.

In Japan, Intel's DH61AG motherboard is listed at 11,800 Yen, which roughly translates into $146 US, while the few US retailers who carry this solution have it priced at around $119.99. (via Akiba PCWatch)
