14 DAY TRIAL // With just a few weeks left until Intel is supposed to release its high-performance Sandy Bridge-E processors, the chips have started to make their appearance at various retailers around the Web together with a series of Intel X79-powered LGA 2011 motherboards.
VR-Zone has put together a list of all the CPUs that have been listed so far and of their prices, and the most powerful of these upcoming chips, the Core i7-3960X retails for prices between $1,226 and $1,380 (roughly €876 to €986).
Rumor has it that the final price of this CPU will be set at $999, but the slightly higher prices are to be expected as most retailers try to profit from early adopters who want to be the first to have these chips.
The smaller brother of the i7-3960X, Intel's Core i7-3930K is also available for pre-order from various retailers from the UK, Sweden and China with prices going from $776 to $912 (€554 to €651).
The last of the three Sandy Bridge-E chips, the quad-core Core i7-3820, is a little bit harder to find as it was listed just in a Chinse online store with a price of $550, the equivalent €392.
Together with the three chips, retailers have also listed a series of LGA 2011 motherboards from Asus, ASRock, MSI as well as from Intel.
The list includes the impressive Asus R.O.G. Rampage IV Extreme that we had a look at just the other week, which is available for pre-order in China at a massive $945 or €675.
Another interesting Intel X79 motherboard to make its appearance is the MSI X79A-GD65 8D, which features no less than eight memory slots and comes with a pre-order price of $472 (€337).
The rest of the boards to be spotted are the X79 Extreme4 (€192.40 or $272), the micro-ATX X79 Extreme4-M (€178.86 or $253), and X79 Extreme7(€264.72 or $375) built by ASRock and the Intel DX79SI and DX79TO. The last two were listed at $377 and $285 (€269 and €203), respectively.
