As it usually happens when the press gets a hold of an internal memo, everyone has begun to fret over what Intel's CEO Paul Otellini supposedly said.

For those who want to get up to speed quickly, the man basically said that Windows 8 would be released before it was ready, bugs and all.

Intel has responded to these “unsubstantiated news reports” by saying that “Windows 8 is one of the best things that ever happened to Intel.”

“Intel has a long and successful heritage working with Microsoft on the release of Windows platforms, delivering devices that provide exciting experiences, stunning performance, and superior compatibility. Intel fully expects this to continue with Windows 8,” the company says.

Interestingly enough, the statement praised the touch interface and “convertible device innovations”, but didn't actually deny that its CEO said that Windows 8 would have issues at launch. It did make its point rather clearly though.

There's nothing to surprise us - Microsoft has a perfect record of betas released as final products, and you can pick any of their releases, most notable being the Windows Millenium, that never got beyond the beta stage, although it was marketed as final. Outing a beta is not an issue. Charging people money to test your product, it is.
