The version includes separate files compatible with all of Microsoft’s Windows OSes

Intel has just made available the Ethernet Connections CD version 18.4.2, developed for most of its Ethernet adapters, compatible with all of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems and with the Linux and FreeBSD platforms as well.

The newly released package is targeted at users who need all the drivers for all the adapters and controllers in a single file, regardless of the system’s OS; therefore, it has a huge size (over 115 MB).

However, if you don’t need this CD, the producer has also outed separate packages compatible with both bit-variants of Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, and 8 OSes, as well as with all of the Server 2008 variants.

While the previous 18.3 version meant the end of support for XP and Server 2003, the current 18.4 version should be, as Intel specifies, the final release for Vista and Server 2008 platforms.

Intel doesn’t highlight any changes made in its latest release, however, it tells us that the packages contain the base drivers, the PROSet for Windows Device Manager, some advanced networking services for teaming and VLANs, as well as SNMP for network adapters.

Now that you have taken into account all the aspects, follow the link below, and from the list, choose either the one that best describes your OS (for a specific platform), or select the Ethernet Connections CD (for all OSes).
