It looks like the desktop motherboard market isn't the only one being left behind

To focus more on processors and other semiconductors, Intel is leaving the motherboard industry.

Despite some odd product appearances, Intel supposedly decided to quit the desktop mainboard market months ago.

Now we learn that the Santa Clara, California-based company also intends to abandon the brand server motherboard business.

If the rumor published by Digitimes is true, Intel will back out of this segment in the second half of the year (2013).

Oddly enough, Intel reportedly said that it “remains committed” to the server motherboard business.

One might wonder if and why Intel is still indecisive. The company has already reduced its manpower invested in the channel motherboard industry, so it's not like its business arms can last much longer in these conditions.

And since brand server motherboards are mostly shipped to small regional brands worldwide or consumers with demand, it likely won't lose much from shutting down this outlet.
