As the tablet market becomes increasingly over-saturated, brand vendors are expected to turn to extreme measures to remain a valid presence for consumers.

New information coming from DigiTimes claims tablet prices are going to be dipped even more in 2014. The US and European markets have matured and fatigue has set in; therefore, future growth will step away from the realm of spectacular.

Device makers like Google, Amazon, HP, Lenovo or ASUS all have so far had cheap sub-$199 / €147 7-inch tablet models on the market, but Samsung has recently entered the budget slate game, announcing its budget Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.

According to the sources, this will prompt Acer, Lenovo and the likes to drop prices even more. The same is valid for white-box vendors that will be pressured to price their tablets with a sub-$100 / €74 tag.

Competition is going to get increasingly fierce, as important device manufacturers are prepping to launch Intel-based tablets priced with under $159 / €118 in the second half of the year. So which company will manage to survive the upcoming storm?
