Intel has rolled out a new PROSet/Wireless software and driver build targeted at some of its adapters, namely version 17.1.0.19, which is developed to be used mostly by end-customers.

However, the present release can be applied by anyone who wants to use basic features of its PROSet adapter and does not need advanced IT administrator tools.

When it comes to compatibility, you can make use of this update only if your computer is powered by one of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems, either 32- or 64-bit variants.

Still, this isn’t enough: your computer must also include a Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 adapter, or one of the Wireless-N, Dual Band Wireless-N, or Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 network products.

In addition to that, you can also apply this release on systems that benefit from a Wireless-N, Dual Band Wireless-N, Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (for Desktop) adapters.

As for applying the package, first ensure your computer is supported by version 17.1.0.19, save the proper downloadable executable for your OS bit variant, run it, and follow each on-screen instruction for a complete and successful upgrade.

Moreover, after the installation has finished, make sure to reboot the system in order to make sure all changes take effect properly.
