The famous GPU & CPU component

It appears that Intel has unrevealed plans, as it has been recently reported that the company is hiring new team members for its Larrabee development group (LDG), part of Intel's digital enterprise group (DEG), which is working "on next generation of leading edge graphics technologies", informs X-bit Labs.

The company hasn't revealed the purpose of its future project, but the specialists estimate that it could lead to a brand new all in one GPU & CPU.

"The description reads that LDG is "seeking lead hardware graphics engineers/architects in all aspects of graphics development", including "component architecture, micro-architecture and performance simulation development". The text further states that in this position, "you will have direct previous experience with CPU and graphics product development". As a lead architect/engineer, the employee will be expected to "help drive requirements for hardware interfaces and substantially influence the software architecture/execution direction"," comments X-bit Labs.

Just yesterday, Nvidia was talking about a two in one component that would integrate 'the power' of a GPU and the one of a CPU. But Nvidia is not the only 'player' that intends to focus its efforts towards creating such revolutionary devices, as the new AMD-ATI company also stated it will eventually roll out a similar 'improvement'. And, if we come to think that the companies have all the equipment and the know-how in both segments, it is more probable that they will launch the ground-breaking device.
