Morgan Freeman has teamed up with the manufacturer Intel in order to announce the distribution of premium movies towards the consumers by means of the Internet, which would allow a much more rapid access to these titles compared to the classical DVD distribution chain.
The new company, which will be involved in the digital entertainment industry, is
called ClickStar Inc., has been founded by Revelations Entertainment, a company created by Morgan Freeman in 1996 together with the producer Lori McCreary.
Up until now, the Hollywood studios have proved to be quite reticent towards the distribution of movies in a digital format, the main concern being the massive pirating of these materials, much in the same way as in the case of the music industry, which continues to suffer huge losses on behalf of the file-sharing services.
ClickStar will avoid these piracy issues, at least according to the statements issued by Freeman and Intel's officials, by offering a much simpler and convenient alternative. Unfortunately, ClickStar's officials gave no supplementary details on the strategy they're going to apply, stating only that all the operations will be supervised Nizar Allibhoy, a former chief-executive for Sony Pictures.
For now, none of the studios with which ClickStar has negotiated the distribution of movies over the Internet have shown much interest in this solution, and no solid agreements have been signed yet.
