They just took it down to hardware level!

Intel just did it! They released the new chips that are bound to make machines more secure! It all happened on Monday and I guess that this is one of the best news in security I've seen this month! I'm very excited and I can't wait to see one of those in action. They're called vPro and they are said to make wonders in the IT security world. Why? Because now, you don't have only software that keeps you well defended, but you also get hardware security measures on your machine. This is just great!

As I've seen on PCWorld's website, by wrapping a set of expanded security features around the vPro Core 2 Duo chips, Intel maintains it can help IT departments more easily protect and support their desktop systems, mainly by offering additional hooks for other vendors' PC defense and management tools. What I'm hoping is that there is no backdoor to this and that it's 100% secure. As you've probably gotten used to from real life, it's a heck of a lot harder to bring down a metal door than to break into a computer, that's why I'm hoping these hard measures will help more than the soft ones.

I asked myself what exactly it can do. And I got the answer from the same site I mentioned above - it will have certain features that extend malware behavior detection further onto the CPU level and wall off virtualized software systems from attack. It will also enhance the chips' interaction with complementary security technologies. You can read more about it here.

Now that I've found out about this, I just can't wipe the smile off my face and I keep wondering whether Intel will kick competition's ass on the market, or others will come up with something similar. Come on AMD, don't disappoint me now!
