As long as they have 80 Plus Gold or Platinum specification

A while ago, it came to light that Intel's Haswell central processing units had a certain trait that made them partially incompatible with most power supplies of today. See more on that here.

There is no easy way to figure out which PSUs have what it takes to run the chips properly at low energy settings. It's definitely not a matter of reading a spec sheet or manual.

Thus, to make things easy on customers, PSU makers have begun to publish lists of which PSUs are supported.

We've already named the Enermax power supplies. Now, SeaSonic has made a similar announcement.

It assured everyone that all of its PSUs with 80 Plus Platinum and Gold ratings can handle the low-power states of the upcoming Intel CPUs.

That means the “ultra efficient Platinum series,” the X Series, and the 80 Plus Gold G series.

That said, not all hope is lost for those who cannot afford these supplies. The 80 Plus Bronze M12II-750 and 850W models should work as well.
