Seeing as how Windows 8 hasn't helped boost sales much, Intel is branching out

Normally, Intel wouldn't bother promoting a type of laptop that doesn't run Microsoft's Windows operating system, but times have changed enough that even Chipzilla is changing its tune.

Since Windows 8 has failed in the task or rekindling sales of notebooks, Intel is now promoting Android tablet-convertible notebooks, according to sources from notebook vendors.

With the price sweet spot at $500 / 500 EUR for such products, including the detachable keyboards, the company feels that consumers would definitely warm up to them if allowed.

After all, many have been exposed to Android through smartphones and slates, so Android-based notebooks, like the admittedly May-bound Yoga from Lenovo, should do well.

Acer, Toshiba, ASUS and HP will all release such laptops in May actually (2013). We imagine that Windows RT will become even less relevant then.
