That massive TV streaming project mentioned back in February isn't paying off

I knew that Intel's plans for Internet TV were crashing and burning, but I wasn't sure if things were bad enough for Chipzilla to give up. Apparently, they are.

And since it isn't about to scrap over half a year's worth of R&D efforts and investment, it is dumping the problem in someone else's lap.

That someone else is Verizon. According to AllThingsD, Intel and Verizon are talking about the latter's acquisition of Intel's Internet TV project.

It's still just a rumor, but given how bad off the whole project was late last month (September 2013), it's not far-fetched at all.

If Verizon does take the matter off Intel's hands, it will have to find a solution to the reticence that TV programmers have shown, despite the exorbitant cash that Intel was willing to pay for content.
