Google has the Android and HP has the webOS as viable software platforms for tablets, but it seems Intel is still quite a bit behind on the development of its own mobile operating system.

Intel has, so far, managed to power a few tablets PCs that got landed with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

Unfortunately, Windows 7 is hardly meant for such things, being more of a netbook/notebook/desktop software.

Seeing as how Intel is trying to gain a share of tablets and other mobile products, it has been trying to finish its MeeGo OS.

Originally started in partnership with Nokia, the latter has since dropped support, leaving Intel to its own devices, so to speak.

Now, at Mobile World Congress 2011, the Santa Clara, California-based company has shown what it managed to refine about the software ever since its last demonstration, back at Computex 2010, in June.

The interface itself seems unchanged, but the underlying software has gone through modifications, mainly in regards to shifting the programming language from C++ to QML.

The need to go to QML is because most apps are built on this programming language and should be made easily accessible through the UI that Intel has in mind.

Of course, seeing as how few, if any, of those new UI elements actually exist yet, it will still be a while before Intel actually makes a working and marketing-viable version of MeeGo.

Still, it was interesting to see just what the ExoPC on display had to show for itself, like a live updating pane interface, a video and music player and a Chromium-based browser (which reportedly left much to be desired in terms of speed and ease of use), among other things.

Those that want a general idea of what they can hope for when it comes to this mobile OS need only look through the pictures below.
