The 14nm CPUs will only ship en masse in the first quarter of 2015

Intel's Broadwell central processing units have already been delayed once, and some may even say twice, but it's not over yet apparently.

According to alleged sources from the upstream supply chain, Intel has postponed mass production of the chips for the fourth quarter of 2014.

Before, they were supposed to enter mass production this quarter and be released in the third.

Now, though, they probably won't be available for retail sooner than the first quarter of 2015.

Well, at least they will be on time for CES if that happens.

Some limited volumes of U- and Y-Series 14nm Broadwell chips might show up in Q4 of 2014, but Pentium and Celeron will only come in 1Q15, and that goes for the rest as well.

It's not clear why this has happened (assuming the rumor is true). Maybe there isn't much interest on the part of consumers to replace the laptops/desktops they already own.
