Without a doubt, multi-touch enabled tables providing enhanced collaboration and accessibility features will become extremely popular with the business segment on the future, and that's exactly the reason why the people over at Pioneer have developed exactly such a product, namely the “Discussion Table”.
As DigInfo.TV informs us, this very special table was first showcased over at the Intel booth at Embedded Technology 2010 and its purpose is to act as a collaboration tool between various businesses.
In fact, the main idea here is that various users can gather around the table and bring forth their documents, stored on various types of media, including here the memory of their own computers, which are then transferred to the table's own memory.
Furthermore, since there are still plenty of people relying mostly on paper documents, the table also sports a built-in scanner, while a digital camera that supports Transfer Jet can be used to import data, just by placing the camera on the bezel of the main monitor.
The documents can be shared between users, but also manipulated, to a certain degree, the Discussion Table supporting such features as enlarging, reducing, rotating, moving around or drawing on the documents directly.
While relatively few bits of technical data have been provided, we do know that the Discussion Table is powered by a computer running the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system (for the necessary touchscreen support) that also comes equipped with an Intel Core i7 Processor.
According to Pioneer, the Discussion Table is currently under development, for release in 2011, and we're really eagerly looking forward to seeing it in action, given the fact that the prospect for such a product are quite good in the corporate environment, not to mention the fact that the technology required to build it is already available out there.
