The other day, we found the latest benchmarks on the Intel Core-i7 "Ivy Bridge-E" central processing units, the top-end HEDT (high-end desktop) CPUs that will replace Sandy Bridge-E later this year.

Now we actually know the exact launch window for the platform, thanks to Japanese website Hermitage Akihabara.

According to the leak, Intel will officially release the six-core i7-4960X Extreme Edition, the Core i7-4930K, and the Core i7-4820K, between September 4 and September 11.

Some others may show up as well, but the total number won't be very high. This is after all a limited, high-performance product line. Not much room for variety on the small, high-end market.

For those confused, the HEDT platform is always one generation behind the current consumer architecture, but still unambiguously better, although the energy efficiency may be a bit behind the times. Not that it matters much to performance lovers, which is in the end the whole point.
