Intel hasn't been reorganizing its business like AMD or Acer, but that doesn't mean it can't bring in new blood and minds. In fact, the company has just selected a new corporate vice president and chief marketing officer.

More specifically, the corporation got Steven Fund, selected for his experience in managing and building brands.

Fund was part of Staples until recently, as a senior vice president of global marketing. He created the company's global marketing center of excellence, strengthened its communications, digital marketing and social media capabilities, and changed Staples' approach to external agencies.

Before Staples, Fun worked for Procter and Gamble, leading to Gillette Fusion becoming a globally accepted product, selling a billion dollars' worth of the thing faster than any previous P&G brand. Add to that management roles at Pepsi-Cola Company and there's a lot that can be brought to the table.

Intel hopes that he will draw on that experience to boost the effectiveness of Chipzilla's own global marketing strategy. Fund will oversee market research, partner marketing, retail channel marketing, social media, global communications, product positioning, etc.

Steven Fund will officially join Intel on June 2, at which point we might finally know whether the man will be focusing on anything specific.
