The world of Chromebooks is apparently about to change. By the looks of it, Google has a new, interesting agenda when it comes to its Chrome platforms and is hoping to bring its OEM partners like Dell, HP or Acer onboard.

According to Myce, Chromebooks packing Intel’s Bay Trail and Nvidia Tegra 124 SoCs will become available at some point in the future.

The Bay Trail Chromebooks have been spotted in the Chromium source code, disguised under the names “Bayley Bay” and “rambi.” The developers write that the Bayley Bay Chromebook “is a Bay Trail mobile and/or desktop reference board.”

The CPU inside the Bayley Bay is an Intel Atom E3845 clocked at 1.91 GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities. Extra information about “rambi” isn’t available at the moment.

The Nvidia Tegra 124 SoC, on the other hand, is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU running at 1.90GHz, with 72-core GeForce ULV graphics. It can support a display resolution of up to 2560 x 1600 pixel density. It appears the developers are testing it on a board nicknamed Venice and Bonaire.

The same chip was spotted making an appearance in a config file of another mysterious Chromebook called Nyan.
