The Android-based smartphone packs a 1.6GHz Atom CPU

Today, Lenovo announced the upcoming availability of its first Intel-powered smartphone – the Lenovo LePhone K800.

The handset is set to make an appearance on shelves in China, and it will be sold through Lenovo’s official website, 360Buy.com, selected Suning & GOME stores and through Lenovo retail stores. The smartphone features a price tag of around RMB 3,299 ($524 / €424).

The new mobile phone is powered by an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.6GHz and capable of providing users with great performance capabilities.

LePhone K800 is expected to provide users in China with high-performance when it comes to running applications or perform other actions on the handset, while registering low power demands.

“As Lenovo’s first smartphone with Intel inside, the launch of LePhone K800 has milestone significance,” said Chen Xudong, senior vice president of Lenovo Group and president of Lenovo China.

“LePhone K800 represents an innovative achievement for Lenovo in the PC+ era, as well, a significant progress for Lenovo in smartphone market segment.”

“Lenovo and Intel will continue to intensify their cooperation, integrating respective advantages in technology and resources to introduce more and better products and to explore the new frontier of the mobile Internet together,” Chen Xudong continued.

The handset packs Intel Hyper Threading technology inside, for fast switching between applications, as well as Intel’s XMM 6260 platform that can offer support for HSPA+ 21Mbs networks.

Lenovo’s LePhone K800 also sports a 4.5-inch IPS full-view screen for a great viewing experience while on the go, backed by a 400MHz GPU with advanced graphics.

The smartphone comes to the market with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory, while featuring an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 1.3MP camera on the front for video calling.

Its high-end back camera can shoot videos in full HD resolution, while the 4.5-inch IPS full-view screen is capable of rendering them at the same resolution. The phone also enables users to view photos and videos from the phone on the larger screens of TVs.

The LePhone K800 is powered by Google’s Android 2.3.7 operating system, and it offers support for a multitude of applications available for download via the Google Play Store.
