Intel has just posted the updated price list for its select quad-core processors. The new offerings are up to 50 percent cheaper, depending on the frequency clock and the market it addresses. More than that, Intel posted two new processor models in the Celeron and Core 2 Duo families.

The updated list includes the Core 2 Quad Q6700 processor running at 2.66 GHz clock speeds. Pricing for the Q6700 fell from the initial $530 to a down-to-earth $266. The same price update also applies to the quad-core Xeon X3230 server chip, that fell from $530 to $266.

The less appealing Celeron family witnessed another price cut. The Celeron 430 offering running at stock core speeds of 1.80GHz dropped 23 percent, from $44 to $34, while the dual-core Celeron E1200 running at a shameful 1.60 GHz clock speed was cut from $53 to $43.

The server offerings come with less dramatic price updates, as the dual-core Xeon 3085 at 3.00Ghz comes with a 29 percent price cut, from the initial $266 to $188.

The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 model comes with a new price tag of $183, a 31 percent reduction from the initial $266. The model is running at 3.00GHz and is sports 4 MB of L2 cache and full support for the 1333 MHz front side bus.

Last, but not least, the obsolete Pentium dual-cores' pricing have also been adjusted. The E2200 chip running at 2.20 GHz has been reduced by 12 percent, while the E2180 chip (also running at 2.20 GHz) has been priced around $64.

The newly-introduced chips are the dual-core Celeron E1400 running at 2.00GHz and the Celeron 570 running at 2.66GHz. While the E1400 comes with a price tag of $53, the higher-end 570 model sells for $134.

The last chips on the list are the new Core 2 Duo E8300 and E7200 processors. The E8300 comes with 6MB of L2 cache and runs at 2.83GHz, and sells for $163. The lower-end E7200 counterpart comes with just 3 MB of L2 cache and runs at 2.53GHz. The chip sells for $133.
