Intel prepares another round in the products and price war with its rival company AMD. This time Intel decided that it's better to make several moves at once, so here they are. The fastest mainstream Intel processor designed for laptops and notebooks will arrive on the 2nd of September, while at the same time pricing all along the mobile line of processors will go down. Affected by the new price policy will be Core 2 Duo processors as well as the lower end Celeron M CPUs that were already quite
cheap.

The current mobile processor from Intel that is considered top of the line is the Core 2 Duo T7700 that will be replaced by the T7800 CPU, which will be clocked at a frequency of 2.6GHz, while its frontside bus speed will stay at 800MHz. The T7800 will also feature 4MB of second level of cache memory. A lower end mobile processor will arrive too, the T7250, as it will replace the aging T7200. The T7250 runs at 2GHz with a frontside bus of 800MHz unlike the T7200 which had only a FSB of 667MHz. Unlike the T7200, the newer T7250 will come with 2MB of L2 cache instead of 4MB.

T7800 will mark the price reduction for T7700 and T7500, which are currently selling for $530 and $316 when sold in batches of 1000 CPUs. The older models will most probably sell for $316 and $241, while the lower end processors like T7300 and T7100 will most likely remain at the same price. On the ultra low end processors front, Intel makes a bold move by introducing the 2GHz Celeron M 550 processors and reduce the price for the Celeron line which is currently topped at the 1.86GHz 540 model. Its price of $134 will be cut on the 2nd of September to $107, while the model 530 that runs at 1.73GHz will sell for $86, just like the 520 model.

While the arrival of the T7800 model was initially first announced in June, there were rumors about the release of an even more powerful T7900 processor for the mobile market segment that will run at 2.8GHz, but until now, there is no sign of it.
