Intel's 4 Series Motherboards to Sport New Features

We learned a while ago that Intel plans to add more sockets to its lineup next year, along with other products already unveiled by its roadmap. At the same time, Intel's LGA775 processor and 4 Series Motherboards were reported as the leading products on the market in 2009. In order to consolidate the competitiveness and lifespan of the 4 Series motherboards, the company decided that it would be a good thing to add more features to them.

As Windows 7 is almost at our door steps, the chip manufacturer is turning its 4 Series motherboards to the WDDM1.1 Driver, while also providing OEMs with components such as drivers for graphics and LAN cards. Many of you may already know that the WDDM1.1 is a new driver model introduced into Windows 7 said to provide better stability and performance compared with Vista WDDM1.0.

Besides, since the fresh DDR3 memory modules are gaining more and more ground these days, the 4 Series motherboards are the first that would use the kits. The memory modules are expected to have a wide range of application due to their superiority to DDR2 in performance and power consumption. Currently, most motherboards feature DDR2, but the new DDR3 memory is expected to get much more marketing share.

The Series will also sport the G45 chip added into advanced HD De-interlacing technology aimed at reducing cutting of objects edging lines. The De-interlacing technology would be able to optimize display output and provide clear HD image processor solutions. In addition, G45 features 24Hz (24P) display support. The chip is also able to deliver better image, close to producers’ vision, and theater effects to users as it supports 24P display, which is the original image of movies.

Moreover, the G45/G43 chip will include Media enhancement, providing Post Processing and Repeater Mode. G43 supports 4 DIMMs, translated into a maximum 16GB (DDR2) or 8GB (DDR3) memory. The G41 chip will support HDMI output. The Southbridge chip will include ICH7R instead of ICH7 to expand RAID support. The new features of the Intel 4 Series chipsets will come live next year. The G45 with Media enhancements has already been shipped.
