Bjango has announced that the latest version of iStat Menus, the popular monitoring utility for Mac users, further adds compatibility with Lion, the upcoming major release of Mac OS X.

When Bjango released iStat Menus 3.17, the developer revealed its first efforts to support Mac OS X Lion, the eighth major release of Apple’s operating system.

In addition to including preliminary support for Lion, iStat Menus 3.17 also improved support for 2011 MacBook Pros, and enhanced the stability of the software.

With version 3.18 now out, Bjango is proud to confirm “Improved support for Mac OS X Lion,” which should ensure a smooth transition for those upgrading to the new cat, even from older versions of Mac OS X, such as 10.5 (Leopard).

Those who haven’t updated in a while may want to know that Bjango recently added extra dropdown menus for GPU memory usage to CPU, name of active GPU to CPU, support for IPv6 addresses and multiple IP addresses in network extra, localized names in the combined extra, and more.

For those who are not very familiar with the Software, iStat Menus is a powerful system utility that tells you what’s going on with your Mac in real time.

It monitors everything from fans and head sensors, to disk usage and battery.

It provides comprehensive, realtime CPU graphs and a list of the top 5 CPU resource hogs, while CPU usage can be tracked by individual cores or with all cores combined.

Users get realtime listings of the sensors in their Mac, including temperatures, fans, voltages, current and power. It even lets you control fan speeds and set different rules when running on battery power.

Each menu comes with its own display modes, customizable colors, font sizes and widths.

The app costs 16 bucks to own, but users can download a trial version to try it out. Free versions of iStat Menus are also available for users running old versions of Mac OS X.
