Multiple hard drives, multiple operating systems

After a Japanese dude already managed to increase the hard drive capacity of his PS3 from 20GB up to 60GB, here come more information to support the fact that Sony's "black beauty" will be more than a regular gaming console.

ps3.qj.net brings us the story, as they discovered it while playing around with the settings of their PS3 ( I would too if Softpedia got one). Apparently, Sony's next-gen features an option for installing other Operating Systems. I've heard some rumors, quite some time ago, about a Linux version for the PS3, but I'm hoping that someone will "adapt" a Windows version for the console. OK, I'm not aiming for Vista or XP, but maybe Windows 3.1 at least. Seems a match made in heaven as it has the same number as the new PS and everything.

As you probably already know, Sony has released an online manual for the PS3, and upon checking it, this multiple OS speculation doesn't seem that much like a simple speculation. In fact, the manual confirms this possibility, and advises to visit Open Platform for PlayStation 3 for further details, which Sony promises to bring soon.

But before getting all excited with the possibility of Linux or Windows on the PS3, you still have to get one and trust me; this isn't going to be easy. The Japanese launch just took place, but if you live in the US, you will have to wait some more, not to mention that European fans have a great journey ahead of them.
