A new flavor of the Instagram application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based smartphones, 3.5.1, with an appealing new feature packed inside, namely a “Photos of You” tab.

The feature is accompanied by the availability of photo tagging capabilities in Instagram, which provides users with the possibility to show to the world who’s with them in their photos.

In the Photos of You tab, one will be able to see all the images that have been tagged with their name, regardless of who uploaded them.

However, as AllThingsD notes in a recent article, the feature works only with the tagging of Instagram users, and not with that of Facebook users.

Even so, it should prove a great way to keep an eye on all photos that have been tagged with one’s name, straight from the application on the Android smartphone.

Users will also be able to set what photos should be displayed in the Photos of You tab, based on different filters.

There are also a series of privacy settings for users to choose from, though some suggest that brands and businesses might be those who will benefit the most from the feature.

The new software update also arrived on devices with a significantly improved quality of uploaded photos, which should be felt by all users with devices running under Ice Cream Sandwich or above.

Instagram for Android also features grid guides for the camera, as well as a series of bug fixes that should make the overall user experience better (on international devices).

Those who would like to give the new flavor of the application a try should head over to this page on Softpedia to download it. The software is available for free, and is compatible with all devices running under Android 2.2 and up.
