Over the past weeks, several reports have been published about scams that lured Vine users by promising them free followers. Now, experts have come across a scam website that offers to sell Instagram followers.

According to Trend Micro experts, the website – hosted on a Russian top-level domain – is designed to appear as if it’s a legitimate Instagram site.

However, in reality, it has nothing to do with the image-sharing service. Instead, scammers use it to trick users into handing over their name, email address, phone number, and financial information.

“In the end, however, not only does the user not get the promised followers, he has handed over his personal information to scammers,” experts warn.

Try to avoid such websites as much as possible. If you’re already a victim of such a scam, keep a close eye on your bank account since the cybercriminals might try to use the information they’ve harvested to perform illegal transactions.
