Several days ago, Instagram was rumored to plan on making official a new mobile application that would make sharing of photos even easier than before, and the software is now official.

Called Bolt, the new mobile client has been designed to provide users with the possibility to take photos on their smartphones and send them to their friends with a single tap.

Moreover, Instagram’s Bolt application comes with support for sending videos, while enabling users to select up to 20 Favorites from their contacts and to easily share photos and videos with them.

“Bolt lets you shoot and send photos to your best friends—with one tap. Send both photos and videos as fast as you see them. Bolt is the newest app from the team who brought you Instagram,” the application’s description reads.

“Keep up with your closest friends, so they can see the world through your eyes. Add up to 20 Favorites from your phone’s contacts and swap unedited photos and videos. Swipe them away and they're gone.”

Should users want to keep their conversations personal, they will be able to do so as well, by sending content to one person at a time.

According to Instagram, Bolt’s ability to snap and share a photo with a single tap translates into “wicked fast photo messaging.” The best part of the deal is the fact that the application is very easy to use.

When you tap the screen, a photo is taken, or a video is recorded. As soon as you lift your finger from the display, the content is sent. All photos and videos will be sent unedited and they can be easily dismissed through simple swipes.

In addition to offering simple caption of content, Bolt also allows users to engage into conversations with their friends, as it also includes support for sending and receiving text messages.

The new Bolt application from Instagram will allow users to sign up with their phone number, which means that they won’t need an email address to enjoy the aforementioned capabilities.

The Bolt app has been already released in the Google Play store as version 1.0.0, with support for Android 4.0 and up devices. Owners of iOS devices can also find it in the App Store.

However, only users in three countries out there can enjoy its capabilities at the moment, namely those living in Singapore, South Africa, and New Zealand. Instagram is planning on rolling it out worldwide, but no specific details on when other markets will receive it have been provided as of now.
