MKVToolNix, a set of tools to create, alter, and inspect Matroska files under Linux and other platforms, has reached version 7.1.0.

The MKVToolNix developers have improved the big 7.0.0 release that was made available a while ago and they managed to fix some of the bug problems and other smaller issues.

According to the changelog, selecting the root of the chapter editor tree will now disable the language/country inputs properly, the track statistics tags are no longer written for WebM files, the WebM specification no longer allow tags, the wrong default duration for PCM audio tracks has been corrected, and a crash that occurred when opening damaged/invalid Matroska files in all extraction modes has been fixed.

Also, the wrong progress percentage is no longer shown during the saving process, a global option for disabling writing the tags has been added, an invalid memory access in the cleanup procedures has been fixed, and the attachment UID has been added to the verbose identification output of Matroska files.

With MKVToolNix, users can get information about (mkvinfo) Matroska files, extract tracks/data from (mkvextract) Matroska files, and create (mkvmerge) Matroska files from other media files.

A complete changelog can be found in the official announcement. You can download MKVToolNix 7.1.0 right now from Softpedia.
