Microsoft Online is a complex set of offerings addressed at business customers. The collection of online services fits into the company's overall Software-plus-Services strategy, designed to take users into the next generation of computing. Promising an optimal experience for companies in the U.S. and less-than-optimal for international users, Microsoft Online Services essentially delivers Exchange, Sharepoint, Office Communications and Live Meeting in the Cloud. In the video at the bottom of the screen Kayvann Ghassemieh, senior product manager with MS Online Services delivers an introduction to what the software giant has to offer via S+S.

“Microsoft Exchange Online is a hosted enterprise messaging solution based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. Exchange Online services include advanced e-mail features as well as calendaring, contact, and task management capabilities.” revealed Lori Sloan, senior site manager at Microsoft.

The Redmond company is allowing customers to test Microsoft Online Services for free for a period of no more than 30 days. Via the Business Productivity Online Standard Suite, users can have access to Exchange Online, Office SharePoint Online, Office Communications Online, Exchange Hosted Filtering, and Office Live Meeting, all offered as subscription services and hosted by Microsoft. The software giant indicated that customers would be able to buy licenses of the Business Productivity Online Standard Suite through a Volume Licensing program. Existing Enterprise Agreement customers can leverage their current agreement to also purchase Business Productivity Online Standard Suite.

“Microsoft Office SharePoint Online is a collection of Web-based tools and technologies built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 that help you store, share, and manage digital information within your company,” Sloan added.
